Hello all, Helpful Hank Here,
Well another year has come and gone for me. A year that has been filled with many challenges but with much hope. Friendships hanging by a shoestring now on the mind and friendships stronger then every.
Life is about change and believe me my life has changed plenty. For me this has been a time of growth. However, as the year came to a close I realized how much that I have gained and will gain as a result from this year of change.
I have a birthday tradition that I…

How many more musical eulogies are we going to have to endure before The Music Industry finally wakes up and again leads us out of the rut we have fallen into? The World is waiting for real change and I think The Music Industry who has taken us out of worse times than these should ignite the world in a way only they can.
Our past has shown us that when times got tough, there has always been a great musical upheaval to get us through, Back in 1963, the world was caught up in the struggle between…

I received this comment to one of my blogs on the Gay lifestyle from someone called, “wingspan cc”. I responded to their comment.
Wingspan cc: “I am against homosexuality purely because of anatomical reasons. All of our body parts are to serve a specific purpose and two people of the same sex exercising sexual intercourse can’t fulfill that principle. I agree that love has no gender. Your thoughts???”
My response:
I understand your concerns about the anatomical aspects of homosexuality. I sh…

I was reading on quite a few sites today how depressed alot of people were about the death of Michael Jackson.
You may feel sorrow or sympathy, but not be depression. His life and legacy should be celebrated in all that he accomplished in his time here on earth. Michael Jackson lived his life exactly as he chose. Anything that he did were his choices. He made no excuses and really didn’t have to. His contributions to music and the world will be experienced for generations to come. It’s the kind…

Please love one another and give Hope for a better future. Forget yesterday for it is dead and gone, Today will not last as long as we would like, Tomorrow is nothing but a thought on a note pad never easily predicted. Life is Short. We all know that. We have all seen it or experienced it either by someone we know or something we heard about. Yet, we still go on as if nothing matters except our own selfish desires. Until it affects us directly, we will continue to believe it only happens to some…

When I think about my rights as a Gay Man and the rights of others in this country, I can’t help but wonder why there is any question or controversy about my right to marry. Everyone should be allowed to fall in love with, and in time, marry the person of their choice as opposed to a person chosen for them. Hearts don’t know gender, color, religion, or even age. All it knows is how it feels. That is the basis of any relationship. It’s a natural feeling of attraction. Yet, somehow, there are peop…

I wish for U....
Comfort on difficult days
Smiles when sadness intrudes
Rainbows to follow the clouds
Laughter to kiss your lips
Sunsets to warm your heart
Gentle hugs when spirits sag
Friendship to brighten your being
Beauty for your eyes to see
Confidence for when you doubt
Faith so that you can believe
Courage to know yourself
Patience to accept the truth
And love to complete your life.

A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass
of water and asked
"How heavy is this glass of water?"
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I h…

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on…

I was at work listening to a girl talk about wedding plans and she finally. Out of total frustration said, “All I want is a traditional wedding!” Those words resinated in my mind and followed me through the rest of my day. I just couldn’t let them go. I began to think of my own situation in life and what that phrase, “traditional wedding,” meant to me.
The “traditional” has long been based on the notion of male-female couple (because we are supposed to procreate to maintain the human species.) G…

Hello All Helpful Hank Here, I would like to talk about a few things today. Tool use safety, The Well in the Desert and, Bee Stings.
Well this past weekend my partner and I framed in Mishaps that led to one trip to the Emergency room and thankfully not two trips. Friday night I was making a hat rack. I had finished cutting my pieces turned off the saw and as it slowed down, I moved a piece of scrap off the platform of the table saw. The blade met my thumb as it was slowing down and took a chunk…

Honoring our Vets
Hello All Helpful Hank here,
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. A chance for every citizen to honor our veterans. My father was a vet of the Korean War. (The pre cursor to the Vietnam War.) Though I myself am not an advocate of war, I will always support our troops. People do what they feel they have to do. As a teenager just out of High School I tried to enlist in the Army but my father was having none of it. I was eighteen and I thought that was that what could he do? P…

Next Stop Iowa
Hello All Helpful Hank Here,
I would like to talk about a subject that I feel personally connected to. That is the decision just handed down in Iowa and Vermont to allow same gender marriage. The decision to allow same gender marriage in Iowa and Vermont is a victory for all. For me personally it is validating.
I have to say I was a bit surprised at the out come. No offense to Iowa but I have never really thought of it as a progressive state. If Americas heartland can come to…

Hello all, Helpful Hank Here, Today I want to talk about Reinventing how we make our income. Here in the valley the unemployment rate has jumped to 10.3%. I understand it’s the highest it has ever been or the highest it has been in years. If you are unemployed it can seem like you will never find another job.
In this economy companies are just not bringing in new staff and are reluctant to fill needed vacant position choosing rather to train and teach employees that they have to be able to hand…

Hi All, Helpful Hank Here, Today I would like to talk a bit about Travel. Now Hanks husband does a lot of traveling, But O’l Hank here doesn’t get to do a whole lot himself. I have to keep the home fires burning. When I do get to travel, I enjoy it. For the most part, it is just as easy and safe to travel by plane, and sometimes even cheaper then to travel by car. I haven’t been many places but where I have been for the most part I have enjoyed. I would say that every one of the trips I have tak…
